Privacy Policy
This explains what information Fixxr collects when you use our apps and site, as a driver, a Fixxr technician, or a visitor, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Effective date: October 19, 2026
1. Introduction & scope
Fixxr Technologies, Inc. (“Fixxr,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Fixxr mobile application for drivers, the Fixxr Technician mobile application and web portal for the technicians who carry out our repairs, and the website at https://fixxr.repair (together, the “Services”). Fixxr helps drivers understand car repair quotes, diagnose vehicle problems, and get their car repaired by a Fixxr technician who comes to them.
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you visit our website, create an account, use either app, request an estimate or repair, work as a Fixxr technician, or otherwise interact with the Services. It applies to visitors, registered drivers, and Fixxr technicians unless a separate agreement says otherwise. If you are a technician, Section 9 describes the additional information we collect from you and how we use it. By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described here.
2. Information you give us directly
We collect information you choose to provide, including:
- Account information: name, email address, phone number, password, and profile details when you register for an account.
- Mobile number and text messages: the mobile number you enter to sign in. We use it in three separate ways. First, to text you a one-time code that confirms the number is yours. Second, and only if you tick the optional box, to text you service updates about a repair job you posted, under our Fixxr Repair Job Updates program. Third, and only if you tick a second, separate optional box, to text you offers, discounts, and car-care tips under our Fixxr Offers & Tips marketing program (up to 4 messages a month, from its own number). The second and third are entirely your choice, and turning either down changes nothing about your account. Section 8 covers how we handle mobile information and Section 10 covers our sale/share disclosure. Our SMS Terms cover message frequency, rates, and how to stop or start again.
- Vehicle information: vehicle identification number (VIN), make, model, year, trim, mileage, license plate, and maintenance history you enter or that we decode from your VIN, so we can give you accurate diagnostics and quote comparisons.
- Repair requests and estimates: descriptions of vehicle issues, photos or videos you upload, diagnostic scan results, the service address and time window for a repair visit, the estimates Fixxr prepares for you, your approvals or decisions on them, and your messages with Fixxr and your technician through the Services.
- Job form entries: what you type into the job request form (such as your name, phone number, ZIP code or address, vehicle details, and the problem description) is saved to our own servers as you go, even if you do not send the request, so our team can help you finish it or follow up.
- Payment information: billing details and payment method information, which is collected and processed by our third-party payment processor(s) (see Section 6). Fixxr does not store full payment card numbers on our own servers.
- Newsletter and marketing sign-ups: your email address if you subscribe to our newsletter or request marketing communications.
- Communications: information you provide when you contact customer support, submit a review, or respond to a survey.
3. Information collected automatically
When you use the Services, we and our service providers automatically collect certain information using cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies, including:
- Device information: device type, operating system, browser type, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
- Usage data: pages and screens viewed, features used, referring/exit pages, links clicked, and timestamps.
- IP address and approximate (IP-based) location: used to infer your general city/region so we can tell you whether Fixxr serves your area, and for security and fraud prevention.
Our hosting provider, AWS Amplify, receives ordinary website requests and keeps access logs that include the requested URL (including query parameters), time, response status, referring page, browser information, and IP address. We use these logs to count requests for public pages and summarize traffic sources and campaign tags. Our reports contain counts, not visitor profiles; they do not link your requests across visits. We send daily totals grouped by campaign source, medium, and name to PostHog, including requests made before analytics consent. Those totals contain no IP address, full URL, visitor ID, or individual request. We do not send access logs to Clarity or Google Analytics. This log analysis does not set an analytics cookie or require an analytics script in your browser. Our hosting provider retains the underlying access logs as described in Section 14.
Our own cookieless funnel measurement. For every visitor, our website sends small messages to our own server (on fixxr.repair, not a third-party domain) when a page is viewed and when certain steps happen, such as starting a search, choosing a suggestion, moving through the job form, decoding a VIN, adding a photo, requesting or confirming a phone code, sending a job, or finding that your area is not covered yet. This sets no cookie and stores no identifier in your browser. Our server combines your IP address and browser information with a secret value that changes every day and keeps only the resulting scrambled code, so the same browser can be counted within one day but not recognized on another day. We do not store your IP address for this purpose. Each message carries the page address, the referring site, campaign tags and ad click identifiers in the page address, your device type, and your approximate country and region from our hosting provider. We send these messages to PostHog, our analytics provider, as anonymous events with no profile, never including anything you typed. Text you type into a search box may be kept in our own server logs. If you switch the Analytics category off (Section 4), these messages are kept in our own server logs only and not sent to PostHog.
The analytics, advertising and session recording tools described in Section 4 also collect usage data in your browser.
4. Cookies, analytics & tracking tools
What runs by default. When you visit our website, analytics and advertising tools start when the page loads, before you choose anything in our cookie banner. They record what you browse: the pages you view, the links and buttons you click, how you arrived (for example, from an ad), and basic device and browser information. Analytics also includes PostHog session recordings of on-screen activity (taps, scrolling and page layout), described below, in which everything you type is masked. You can switch either category off at any time (see “Managing your choices” below), and we honor Global Privacy Control (Section 10).
What waits for you to click Accept. Microsoft Clarity heatmaps and recordings start only after you click “Accept” in our banner or switch them on in Settings. Ignoring the banner is not treated as accepting them.
What we never send to these tools. We do not send anything you type into our website to an analytics or advertising company. Text you type into a search or job description box is removed from the page addresses we report to them, form inputs are excluded from click tracking, and we do not send hashed email addresses or phone numbers to advertising platforms. Session recordings mask every form input and the text of anything you wrote, and the step where you enter a phone verification code is not recorded. One exception: if you join our waitlist because we do not serve your area yet, our server saves your email address and ZIP code with our analytics provider so we can tell you when we arrive.
The mobile apps (the Fixxr app for drivers and the Fixxr Technician app) currently run no third-party analytics, session-replay, or advertising tools. Before any app analytics are enabled, this policy will be updated to describe them first.
The tools, by banner category:
- Analytics (on by default): PostHog (product analytics): page views, clicks, scroll depth, web-vitals performance, and error diagnostics.
- Analytics (on by default): Google Analytics 4 (traffic measurement): site traffic, traffic sources, and audience measurement.
- Ads (on by default): Google Ads, Meta (Facebook and Instagram) pixel, and TikTok pixel. These advertising cookies and pixels tell us which ads bring visitors to Fixxr and which visits lead to a job request, and let these platforms show you Fixxr ads. Google, Meta, and TikTok receive the pages you visit, a cookie or device identifier, your IP address, and browser information, and may combine this with other information they hold about you under their own privacy policies. When you send a job, a hashed (scrambled) contact detail, such as your phone number, is also shared with Google so we can measure how well our ads work. Ads never load when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal (Section 10).
- Session recordings (part of Analytics): PostHog session replay: recordings of on-screen activity (taps, scrolling, page layout) that run when the page loads, including while you post a job. All form inputs are masked, anything on the job form that shows your own details back to you (your description, car, VIN, address, name and phone number) is masked, the step where you enter a phone code is not recorded, and we do not capture network requests or console output. Recording is off when you switch Analytics off or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal (Section 10), and it pauses on your dashboard and sign-in pages.
- Heatmaps (only after Accept): Microsoft Clarity (heatmaps & session recording): aggregate heatmaps and session recordings that show how visitors interact with pages, used to improve usability. On pages that show your job, account, or contact details, the page content is masked. Clarity never loads when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal (Section 10). Microsoft processes this data as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
If we add a new analytics or advertising tool, we will update this policy to name it before it is used.
Records of your choices. When you save a cookie choice, your browser keeps it, and we keep a record of it on our own server: a random identifier generated for that browser, the categories you chose, the date and time, the banner version, whether your browser sent a Global Privacy Control signal, and the page you were on. The record does not include your IP address, name, or contact details, and is used only to show which choice was made and when. We show the banner again about once a year, or sooner if we add a new tool or category.
Managing your choices. Click “Settings” in the banner, or “Your privacy choices” in the site footer at any time, to switch Analytics (which includes PostHog session recordings), Ads, or Heatmaps off or on. A category you switch off stops right away (the page reloads so nothing already loaded keeps running) and stays off on every later visit from that browser. You can also control cookies through your browser settings and mobile OS-level tracking controls (such as iOS App Tracking Transparency) where applicable. Strictly necessary cookies (e.g., for security and session integrity) cannot be turned off because the Services do not function without them.
5. Precise location data
With your permission, the Fixxr app for drivers may collect precise (GPS-based) location data to confirm where your vehicle is for a repair visit, check that we serve your area, and estimate drive time. Precise geolocation is considered sensitive personal information under several state privacy laws (see Section 12). You can enable or disable location permissions at any time in your device settings; doing so may limit certain features (like filling in your service address for you).
The Fixxr Technician app does not collect precise location data and does not track technicians in the background. Technicians tell us the ZIP codes and radius they are willing to serve, and we use that service area, not live location, to decide which job offers they see. The address of a job a technician has accepted opens in the maps app of their choice on their own device.
6. Information from third parties
We also receive information about you from:
- Fixxr technicians: the photos, findings, status updates (such as on the way, started, and finished), proposed extra work, and messages a technician enters about your vehicle or repair through the Fixxr Technician app.
- Payment processors: confirmation of payment, transaction status, and fraud-risk signals from processors such as our payment provider(s) (Stripe). For technicians, Stripe also tells us whether payout onboarding is complete and payouts are enabled (Section 9).
- Background-check providers (technicians only): with the technician’s written consent, the result of a background check from a consumer reporting agency, as described in Section 9.
- Vehicle data providers: VIN-decoding and vehicle specification data used to populate make/model/ trim details and maintenance schedules.
7. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Services, including preparing your estimate, sending a Fixxr technician to your vehicle, ordering parts, and showing you the status of your repair.
- Evaluate whether a repair quote appears fair using vehicle, repair, and regional pricing data.
- Process payments and prevent fraud.
- Personalize your experience and remember your vehicles and preferences.
- Send transactional service communications (e.g., quote updates, appointment confirmations), including repair-job SMS updates only where you have opted in to the Fixxr Repair Job Updates program.
- Send marketing communications, such as offers, discounts, and car-care tips, by email, or by text message only where you have separately opted in to the Fixxr Offers & Tips SMS program (a second, unchecked-by-default box; up to 4 texts a month; reply STOP at any time). We never send marketing texts to anyone who has not opted in to that program.
- Monitor, debug, and improve the Services, including through the analytics tools described in Section 4.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
8. How we share & disclose information
Mobile phone numbers, SMS/text-messaging opt-in data, and SMS consent status are never sold or rented, and are never shared with any third party or affiliate for marketing or promotional purposes. This SMS data is excluded from any “sale” or “share” as defined under the CCPA/CPRA. We disclose your mobile number to our SMS delivery provider only to the extent needed to send the messages you asked for, where required by law, or otherwise only as described in this section.
We disclose other (non-SMS) information:
- With the Fixxr technician assigned to your job: before a technician accepts a job, they see the work, the vehicle, the general area, the time window, and what the job pays. Once a technician has accepted your job, they receive the information reasonably needed to coordinate, schedule, and complete it: your name, the service address, the vehicle details, the issue description and our diagnosis, photos you attached, and your messages with them in the Services. Technicians are independent contractors who are permitted to use this information only to deliver the service you requested, and they agree not to keep it or contact you outside the Services afterward. No mobile information is shared with technicians for marketing or promotional purposes, and your SMS opt-in data and consent status are never shared with technicians.
- With service providers who process data on our behalf (hosting, payment processing, customer support, SMS delivery, and analytics), under contractual confidentiality and use restrictions.
- With advertising platforms (Google, Meta, and TikTok), through the advertising cookies and pixels described in Section 4: the pages you visit on our website, cookie and device identifiers, IP address, and browser information, never anything you type. You can stop this with the controls in Section 10.
- For legal reasons, to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Fixxr, our users, or the public.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
- With your consent or at your direction.
We do not sell personal information for money and we do not disclose it to data brokers. Our use of advertising pixels may be a “sale” or “sharing” under some state laws; see Section 10 for that disclosure and how to opt out.
SMS program disclosures. If you join Fixxr Repair Job Updates, message frequency varies based on activity on repair jobs you post. If you join Fixxr Offers & Tips, you receive up to 4 messages per month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Each program is sent from its own number and has its own STOP.
Mobile information. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. We share your mobile number with our SMS delivery provider only to the extent needed to send you the verification codes and service messages you asked for, and otherwise only as described in this section (for example, where required by law).
9. Fixxr technicians
This section applies to you if you request an invite to Fixxr Techs, go through technician onboarding, or carry out repairs for Fixxr customers using the Fixxr Technician app or the technician web portal. Everything else in this policy applies to you as well; this section covers the additional information we collect because of the work you do with Fixxr. Fixxr technicians are independent contractors, and the Technician Agreement you sign may describe some of this in more detail.
What we collect from technicians
- Invite request: your name, phone number, email address, whether you hold an ASE certification, and anything you write in the note on our technician page. Requests are sent to our team by email and posted to a private team channel, and kept so we can follow up.
- Onboarding profile: years of experience, ASE certification areas and numbers, EPA Section 609 certification status, the tools you have, the ZIP codes and radius you are willing to serve, and your availability.
- Documents and credentials: your signed Technician Agreement, a certificate of general liability insurance (including its expiry date), and other documents we ask for to confirm you are qualified and insured. We store these documents, their status, and when they expire so we can remind you to renew them.
- Background check: with your separate written consent and authorization, we obtain a background check report about you from a consumer reporting agency. We receive the report and use it only to decide whether you can take jobs on Fixxr. Where the Fair Credit Reporting Act applies, you receive the required disclosure before the report is ordered and the required notices if we decide not to work with you because of it.
- Payout account: technicians are paid through Stripe. To receive payouts you set up an account with Stripe, which collects your identity details, date of birth, tax identification number, and bank account details directly, under Stripe’s privacy policy and the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Fixxr does not receive or store your full bank account or tax identification number; Stripe tells us whether your account is set up and whether payouts are enabled. We keep records of your pay for each job and of each payout.
- Job records: the job offers you accept or decline, the status of each job (for example on the way, started, finished, or cancelled), the before-and-after photos and inspection notes you take with your device camera or choose from your photo library, the findings and extra work you propose, and your messages with the driver and with Fixxr inside the Services. Photos are linked to the job they were taken for.
- Device and app information: device type, operating system, app version, a push-notification token for your device if you turn notifications on, and the times you sign in and use the app. The Fixxr Technician app asks for camera and photo-library permission so you can add repair photos. It does not ask for location permission (Section 5).
How we use it
- Decide whether to invite you, and confirm your qualifications, insurance, and background meet our standards.
- Show you job offers that match your service area, availability, tools, and certifications.
- Dispatch, schedule, and run jobs, keep the driver informed, and record the work you did.
- Calculate and pay what you earn, and report payments to tax authorities where the law requires it.
- Handle warranty follow-ups, customer questions, disputes, and safety or quality concerns about a job.
- Send you job offers, reminders, messages, and account notices by push notification, text message, or email, according to your notification settings.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions and your Technician Agreement.
Who we share it with
- Drivers: the driver whose job you accepted sees your name, that you are on the way, your messages to them, and the photos, findings, and proposed extra work you record about their vehicle. We do not share your home address, your pay, your documents, or your background check with drivers.
- Stripe, to set up your payout account and pay you, and the consumer reporting agency that runs your background check, as described above.
- Service providers who host our systems, store documents and photos, send text messages, emails, and push notifications, and provide customer support, under contractual confidentiality and use restrictions.
- For legal reasons and in a business transfer, as described in Section 8. We may also share records about a job with an insurer or with authorities when required to resolve a claim or by law.
We do not sell technician information, and the advertising tools in Section 4 run on our public website only, not in the Fixxr Technician app.
Retention and your choices
We keep your profile, documents, and background-check result while you are an active Fixxr technician and for a reasonable period after your account is deactivated, so we can meet our legal, tax, insurance, and dispute obligations. Job records, including photos, and pay and payout records are kept for the periods described in Section 14, because warranty, tax, and accounting rules require it. You can update your profile and notification settings in the app, turn push notifications off in your device settings, and exercise any of the rights in Section 11 by contacting us at the address in Section 19. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete what we can and tell you what we have to keep.
10. “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” & Global Privacy Control
We do not sell personal information for money. The Ads category described in Section 4 lets Google, Meta, and TikTok collect browsing information on our website (pages visited, cookie and device identifiers, IP address, and browser information) for advertising. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), and similar state laws, this may be a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising. We do not include anything you type, and mobile phone numbers, SMS/text-messaging opt-in data, and SMS consent status are never sold or shared, as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA.
You can opt out of this sale or sharing at any time by:
- Using the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in the site footer, which switches the Ads category off for your browser right away;
- Switching off the “Ads” category under “Settings” in our banner or “Your privacy choices” in the site footer; or
- Enabling a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in a supporting browser or browser extension. We treat a detected GPC signal as a valid opt-out-of-sale/share request for that browser, consistent with CPRA regulations. With the signal on, advertising pixels and Microsoft Clarity never load, starting with the first page you open, even if you click “Accept.”
Opting out in your browser applies to that browser. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
11. Privacy rights by state
If you are a resident of California, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know/access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold about you, request deletion, request correction, opt out of sale/sharing and targeted advertising (Section 10), limit use of sensitive personal information (Section 12), and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To exercise these rights, contact us using Section 19 or use in-app privacy controls where available; we will verify your request using information reasonably necessary to confirm your identity.
Colorado, Connecticut, and Virginia residents have similar rights under the Colorado Privacy Act, Connecticut Data Privacy Act, and Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, including rights to access, correct, delete, obtain a portable copy of your data, and opt out of targeted advertising, sale, and certain profiling. You may appeal a denied request by contacting us at the address in Section 19.
Texas residents have similar rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, including the right to opt out of the sale of personal data and use of sensitive/biometric data.
12. Sensitive personal information
Certain information we process is treated as “sensitive personal information” under state privacy laws, including precise geolocation (Section 5) and, potentially, vehicle identification/ownership details tied to an identifiable person. We use sensitive personal information only as reasonably necessary to provide the Services you request (e.g., confirming where your vehicle is for a repair visit, identifying your vehicle for an accurate estimate) and for security purposes. You may limit our use of sensitive personal information for purposes beyond providing the Services using the contact details in Section 19.
13. Children’s privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in violation of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us using Section 19 and we will take steps to delete it.
14. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, comply with our legal obligations (including tax, accounting, and dispute-related recordkeeping), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary by data type; for example, account and repair-history data is generally retained for the life of your account and for a reasonable period afterward to satisfy those obligations, while routine diagnostic data is generally retained for a shorter period and deleted sooner. AWS Amplify retains website access logs while it hosts our site; the aggregate traffic reports we produce from them contain no IP addresses or visitor IDs. Data collected by the analytics, advertising and session recording tools in Section 4 is retained by the providers for their standard, shorter retention windows and may be deleted sooner.
15. Data security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and vendor security review. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
16. International users
Fixxr currently operates in the United States, and this Privacy Policy is written with U.S. state privacy laws in mind. If Fixxr expands to the European Union, United Kingdom, Brazil, or other jurisdictions with their own data protection frameworks (such as the GDPR, UK GDPR, or Brazil’s LGPD), this section will be updated to describe our legal basis for processing, your rights under that law, applicable international data transfer mechanisms, and contact details for any required local representative or data protection officer.
17. Third-party links
The Services may link to third-party websites or apps we do not control (for example, Stripe’s payout setup pages or the app stores). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site or service before providing information to it.
18. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Services (such as an in-app notice or banner) or by other reasonable means before the change takes effect. The “Effective date” at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.
